I’ve been dabbling with the idea of starting my own graphic design business for years now. I have always had an excuse of why I would fail if I set out on this adventure. “There’s too many graphic designers in Grand Junction.” “I’m not a salesman at heart. Guess what will be required to build your business?” And my personal favorite,”My college experience didn’t adequately prepare me for a freelance career. My only chance is to get an entry level job at a local firm.” Well, here is the genuine reason, the ONE reason that best describes me, FEAR. I have feared failure, but the truth is my biggest failure was not pursuing my dream.
This blog is more for me than it is for you (the reader). I want to look back through my past and see all that I have overcome. I want to prove to myself that my success in life hinges on ME.
So this is the start of something great! This week I received a check for $25 for services rendered. I’m still in the process of developing my business, my brand, but like the excuses I had made in the beginning for not starting my business, I need to set them aside and push forward towards my goals. Life will not suddenly begin once a certain goal is reached. Life is now!
